Haripad Sree Subrahmanya Swamy temple

Haripad Sree Subrahmanya Swamy temple is a Hindu place of worship in Alappuzha featuring a large statue of Lord Subrahmanya as its main deity. Within the complex are additional shrines dedicated to Ganesha, Krishna, and Ayyappa for devotees to visit.

The temple is recognized as one of the seven major shrines of the historical Travancore region and has maintained its spiritual role since ancient times. Its importance in the local religious tradition spans centuries of continuous practice.

The temple hosts three separate flag-hoisting ceremonies throughout the year, each dedicated to different deities and drawing local communities for worship. These festivals remain central occasions when visitors can observe traditional rituals and processions in action.

The temple sits in central Haripad, roughly 500 meters north of the main highway and easy to reach on foot. The surrounding area has government buildings, a police station, and shops, making navigation and basic services convenient.

The shrine houses one of Kerala's largest Subrahmanya idols along with a towering golden flagstaff that stands out in the landscape. Its main shrine unusually blends both Shaiva and Vaishnava architectural elements, making it architecturally distinct.
