Agar Malwa district, Administrative district in Ujjain division, India
Agar Malwa district is an administrative region in the Ujjain division characterized by the Agar Plateau on its western side and hill tracts near Badod that reach 545 meters in elevation. The terrain transitions between elevated plateaus and lower valleys across its landscape.
The district was established in 2013 as the 51st district of Madhya Pradesh, created by separating four administrative units from Shajapur District. These four areas—Agar, Badod, Susner, and Nalkheda—formed the foundation of the new administrative region.
The population consists of 90.83% Hindu residents, with Malvi and Hindi as primary languages, reflecting the regional linguistic and religious composition.
The district has multiple bank branches including Canara Bank, AU Small Finance Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Bank of India distributed across the region. Banking services are readily accessible in the larger towns and settlements.
The area houses historically significant temples such as the Chausath Yogini shrine and Bagulamukhi Mata Mandir in Nalkheda that visitors often overlook. These sanctuaries reflect architectural traditions that have endured across generations.
