Pazhoor Padipura

Pazhoor Padipura is a Hindu temple in Piravom with three traditional gateways that form the entrance structures of the complex. Mercury and Venus deities are depicted in carved form within the eastern section of the grounds.

The temple was established roughly 1800 years ago and its architecture reflects how Kerala temple construction traditions evolved over time. Different building phases within the structure show how construction approaches changed across distinct historical periods.

The temple remains closely connected to the Nambuthiri community, whose members have maintained its traditions and daily rhythms for generations. Visitors who come here encounter practices rooted in how local families have always approached spiritual life in this place.

The temple is located roughly 30 kilometers southeast of Kochi and can be reached by local transportation. If you want astrological consultations, plan well in advance since appointments need to be arranged several months ahead of your visit.

The nearby Muvattupuzha River changes its flow direction near the temple grounds, moving eastward before turning north and west again. This natural phenomenon is noticed by visitors and connects to the temple's special placement in the landscape.
