St.Thomas Dayara, Vettikkal, Orthodox monastery in Vettikkal, India
The stone structure of St. Thomas Dayara stands on 2.5 acres of land, featuring a two-story building with traditional architectural elements of Kerala churches.
In 1125, a cross from St. Thomas Church in Mulanthuruthy was placed at Vettikkal, marking the border between the Royal Provinces of Kochi and Travancore.
The monastery holds mass services where people gather to participate in religious ceremonies and maintains strong connections with the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
Visitors can reach the monastery by taking local transportation from Mulanthuruthy, which is located approximately five kilometers from the church complex.
The church houses the burial site of Kattumangattu Junior Bava Geevarghese Coorilose, the second Bishop of Thozhiyoor Church, who died in 1809.
