Ashtabhuji Temple

Ashtabhuji Temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and features intricately carved stone surfaces depicting her eight-armed form in various positions. The structure showcases stone carving techniques combined with religious iconography throughout its design.

The temple dates to the Gupta dynasty period and was later designated as a Monument of National Importance by India's Archaeological Survey. This official recognition ensures protection and conservation of the site for future generations.

The temple serves as a gathering place during Navratri celebrations, when visitors come to light lamps and perform prayers dedicated to the eight-armed goddess. These annual rituals remain central to local religious practice and draw many devotees each year.

The site can be accessed through railway networks connecting Janjgir and Champa towns. The location is situated at elevation, so wearing comfortable shoes and allowing time for walking uphill is advisable.

The walls are covered with inscriptions in Nagari script and Sanskrit that preserve ancient texts. These written records offer glimpses into the past and remain valuable for understanding old traditions.
