Thirumanangeeswarar Temple, Hindu temple in Melur, Tamil Nadu, India
Thirumanangeeswarar Temple is a Hindu shrine located near Minjur town with a main sanctuary dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Thiruvudai Amman. The complex contains multiple worship areas and ritual spaces arranged around the central sanctum.
The site originated when a wealthy landowner discovered a cow pouring milk over a natural sand lingam in what was once called Suganda Vanam. This miraculous occurrence led to the establishment of the temple as a place of worship.
This shrine is one of three Sakthi temples that form a spiritual triangle across the Tondaimandalam region, along with Kodiyidai Amman and Vadivudai Amman temples. Visitors can sense how these three sites are woven into the religious identity of the area.
The temple is accessible by bus via Melur station or by train via Minjur railway station, with regular connections to major transport hubs in the region. Visitors find the quieter hours of the day best for exploring the site with ease.
The shrine houses a goddess statue around 5 feet tall facing south, with an unusual snake pit positioned directly in front of it. This distinctive feature sets this location apart from other temples in the surrounding area.
