Royapuram fire temple, Chennai

The Jal Phiroj Clubwala Dar-e-meher is a Zoroastrian temple distinguished by its four cusped arches and red stone steps leading to a verandah. A sacred fire burns continuously within the inner sanctum, maintained as the centerpiece of worship.

Construction began in 1909 after the local community raised funds through coordinated monthly contributions over multiple years. This collaborative effort demonstrated the spiritual importance this place held for the Parsi residents of Chennai.
