Vallakottai Subramaniyaswami temple

The Vallakottai Subramaniyaswami temple is a shrine in Kanchipuram district with a five-tier entrance tower and a pillared hall inside. The main chamber houses a seven-meter-tall statue of Lord Murugan along with figures of the peacock, the goddess Teyvayanai, and the goddess Valli.

The shrine was founded in the ninth century by King Bageerathan of the Ilanji Kingdom. It preserves examples of ancient Tamil architecture from this early period.

The temple serves as a center for devotees who come to worship Lord Murugan throughout the year. Daily rituals and seasonal celebrations mark the rhythm of spiritual life for the local community.

The shrine is open to visitors in the morning and evening on most days. Bus connections link the location to nearby cities including Chennai and Tirupati.
