Suvali Beach

Suvali Beach lies along the Arabian Sea near Surat and stretches for several kilometers with black sand across the Konkan coast. The shoreline offers calm water and gentle waves suitable for swimming, with open areas for lounging on the sand.

The Battle of Swally took place here in 1612 when British naval forces under Captain Thomas Best defeated Portuguese fleets. This event marked a turning point in European maritime control over Indian waters.

The annual beach festival here brings together local artisans, performers, and food vendors who showcase regional traditions through live acts and crafts. Visitors can experience the creative energy that emerges during these celebrations throughout the year.

The beach is open twenty-four hours with no entrance fees, so visitors can arrive at any time that suits them. The quietest and most pleasant times are early morning and late afternoon when fewer people are present.
