Statue of Equality, Metallic statue in Muchintal, Hyderabad, India.
The Statue of Equality is a 216-foot (66-meter) metallic monument in Muchintal, near Hyderabad, India, depicting Ramanujacharya in a seated position. The figure was cast from five different metals and rests atop a broad steel base structure.
The figure was inaugurated in 2022 and honors Ramanujacharya, an 11th-century thinker who advocated for peaceful coexistence among people. His teachings influenced spiritual traditions across South India for centuries.
The temple complex features 108 small shrines modeled after sacred sites from ancient Hindu texts. Visitors can walk through the grounds and view each of these miniature temples, which relate to teachings about Vishnu worship.
The grounds open early in the morning and close in the evening, with slightly extended hours on weekends. Entry passes can be reserved online in advance, making access more convenient.
The metal components for the monument were shipped from China and arrived in over 1,600 individual pieces. Assembly on-site took roughly 15 months to fit all parts together and raise the finished figure.
