Sayyid Jamaluddin Mosque, Islamic monument in Saptagram, India.
Sayyid Jamaluddin Mosque is an Islamic structure in Saptagram featuring brick walls adorned with terracotta ornaments. The complex includes a minaret, a prayer hall, and three tombs inside.
The mosque was completed in May 1529 during the reign of Bengali sultan Nasiruddin Nasrat Shah. Its builder was Sayed Jamaluddin, son of Sayed Fakhruddin from Amol, as documented on the stone foundation plaque.
The minaret and interior spaces showcase the craftsmanship of artisans who mastered brick techniques and terracotta decoration. This work reflects the local building style that developed in this region.
The monument sits in the Chinsurah-Mogra community block and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and treat the site respectfully, as it remains a place of Islamic importance.
The complex holds three tombs, including one for Sayed Fakhruddin and another for his wife. These burials provide a rare glimpse into family and social structures of early 16th-century Bengal.
