Sitamma Sagar Barrage

Sitamma Sagar Barrage spans the Godavari River with around fifty spillway gates to control water flow across its width. The structure creates a large reservoir that stores water for irrigation throughout the surrounding agricultural region.

The barrage was built as a modern replacement for an older, simpler water structure that had stood at this location for about 150 years. This development shows how water engineering advanced from traditional to contemporary methods in the region.
