Christ Church, Dr.Ambedkar Nagar, Anglican church in Dr.Ambedkar Nagar, India.
Christ Church is an Anglican church in Dr. Ambedkar Nagar built on a teak framework with brick and lime mortar walls that support a 10-meter steeple and single transept. The structure stands as a religious building from the early 1800s and welcomes visitors to view its interior spaces.
Troops from the Warwickshire and Brecknockshire regiments built this structure between 1818 and 1823 during the British cantonment period. It became the first religious building in the Mhow area at that time.
Memorial plaques on the walls honor people who worked in Mhow, drawing visitors from Britain, Scotland, Ireland, and Australia who trace family or military ties to the cantonment.
Visitors can reach the church easily as it sits in a populated neighborhood with regular street access and navigation landmarks nearby. The building welcomes people during its open hours, with clear sightlines from the surrounding area.
After the 1857 uprising, rifle holders were added to the church pews so British soldiers could secure their weapons during worship. This practical feature reflects how military life and religious practice were intertwined during that historical period.
