Shri Laxmi Narsimha Temple, Hindu temple in Nira Narsingpur, Maharashtra, India

Shri Laxmi Narsimha Temple is a Hindu temple in Nira Narsingpur that houses two representations of Lord Narasimha in its main sanctuary: one made from sand and another carved from black stone. The entire structure was built using black stone and follows traditional Peshwa architectural design principles.

The temple was founded in 1787 under the patronage of Sardar Vitthal Shivdev Dani as an ambitious construction project. The building took approximately twenty years to reach its final form.

The temple holds deep meaning for many families across Maharashtra as their ancestral place of worship passed down through generations. You can see this connection in how devotees regularly visit and make offerings here.

The temple sits in a rural area, so planning your visit in advance helps with travel arrangements. The most meaningful time to visit is during the Vaisakh Navratri Festival, which concludes with the Narasimha Jayanti celebration.

What stands out is the dual representation of the main deity using two different materials within the same sanctuary, which is uncommon in temple design. This combination of sand and stone reflects distinct artistic traditions.
