Kuhrang County, Administrative county in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran
Kuhrang County is an administrative county in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province situated in mountainous western terrain, organized into three distinct districts. The area contains several water management systems integrated into its geography across multiple settlements.
The county underwent major administrative reorganization in 2009 when Bazoft-e Bala Rural District was newly established and Doab Rural District separated to form its own administrative region. These changes created the current three-district structure that exists today.
The local population speaks Luri, a regional language that remains active in daily life and connects different settlements throughout the area. This linguistic tradition forms an important part of local identity and community bonds.
The administrative center at Chelgerd serves as the main hub for government services and access to information about the three districts. Travel within the area requires planning due to the mountainous terrain that characterizes the region.
Three major water transfer projects known as Kuhrang 1, 2, and 3 redirect water from the Kuhrang River to supply the Zayandeh River system across the wider region. These engineering works play a crucial role in the area's water management strategy.
