Gonbad-e Qabus

The cylindrical structure rises 53 meters with ten buttresses forming a star pattern and features a conical dome atop its red brick construction.

Built in 1007 under Ziyarid ruler Qabus Ibn Voshmgir, the tower served as a burial monument and displayed the architectural capabilities of the dynasty.

Two bands of Kufic inscriptions encircle the tower, with one band placed eight meters from the ground and another beneath the conical dome.

The monument remains visible from 30 kilometers away and contains an eastern window that allows sunlight to illuminate the interior chamber.

The interior design included chains suspended from the ceiling, suggesting that a glass coffin might have hung within the chamber.
