Iran–Turkmenistan Friendship Dam

The Iran-Turkmenistan Friendship Dam spans 655 meters across the Hari River with a height of 78.5 meters and a width of 15 meters.

Construction of the dam concluded in 2004, marking a significant advancement in water resource management between Iran and Turkmenistan through bilateral cooperation.

The dam represents a joint initiative between Iran and Turkmenistan, with both nations sharing equal rights to 820 million cubic meters of water resources.

The facility generates 16 megawatts of hydroelectric power through three Francis turbines while maintaining a reservoir capacity of 1,250 million cubic meters.

The structure functions simultaneously as an earth-fill dam and power station, operated jointly by water authorities from both Iran and Turkmenistan.
