Geno Biosphere Reserve

The reserve encompasses 27,500 hectares of mountains, forests, and coastal regions with diverse plant species including date palms, pomegranates, and various medicinal plants.

The Iranian Department of Environment designated Geno as a protected area in 1976, leading to its subsequent recognition under UNESCO's Man and Biosphere Program.

Local communities within the reserve maintain traditional agricultural practices while participating in environmental conservation efforts that support their sustainable way of life.

The reserve contains multiple hot springs and provides opportunities for bird watching, hiking, and research activities focused on studying the local ecosystems.

The area serves as a habitat for numerous wildlife species including gazelles, leopards, grey wolves, and various bird species such as eagles and cinereous vultures.
