Saryazd Castle

The castle features three concentric walls with high towers, surrounded by a six-meter-wide and four-meter-deep protective moat with a wooden bridge entrance.

Built during the Sassanid period approximately 1800 years ago, the inner fortification remains intact while the outer section dates from the Safavid era.

The architectural design combines elements from multiple Persian periods, including Sassanid, Samanid, Ilkhanid, and Safavid influences in its construction and decorative features.

Visitors can explore the castle daily from 8 AM to 6 PM, accessing three floors connected by narrow adobe stairs and arched corridors leading to various chambers.

The fortress contains 468 chambers that functioned as ancient safe deposit boxes, where local families stored their valuables, making it one of the largest such facilities.
