Imam Reza Stadium, Modern sports stadium in Mashhad, Iran
Imam Reza Stadium is a modern sports facility in Mashhad with seating for about 27,700 spectators in covered sections surrounding the main football pitch. The complex includes ten indoor sports halls, meeting spaces, training grounds, and multilevel parking for vehicles.
The project began in March 2013 and was completed in January 2017. It was officially opened to the public in March 2017.
The facility belongs to the Astan Quds Razavi Sports Complex, overseen by the foundation that manages the Imam Reza shrine. It reflects the importance of athletics in this sacred city.
The location is accessible by public transport and has ample on-site parking available. Arriving early during major events helps avoid lengthy queues at entry points.
The stadium roof employs a tensile cable system designed by French and German engineers. This design approach was entirely new to Iranian sports architecture at the time.
