Nova Milanese, Italian comune
Nova Milanese is a small town in the Province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy, crossed by the Villoresi canal. It has paved streets with traditional buildings, most not taller than four stories, and is surrounded by green spaces including the Grugnotorto-Villoresi Park.
Nova Milanese has roots reaching back to the Middle Ages, with the Church of Sant'Antonino Martire existing since the late 1200s. The church was expanded multiple times over the centuries and reached its current form following restorations in the 1920s.
The streets of Nova Milanese feature traditional courtyard structures called corti that reflect how people have lived for centuries. These narrow tree-lined passages show how residents use their shared spaces, with private gardens and small yards that shape the character of daily life in the town.
Nova Milanese is easily reached by car from nearby cities like Milan by taking the main road toward Meda. The town has no train station, but nearby stations like Desio connect it to many towns in the area, and buses run regularly to neighboring towns.
At the center of the town stands Villa Vertua Masolo, a manor house built in the early 1900s in the liberty style, which now houses a special collection called Arti del Fuoco. This collection displays ceramic, glass, and metal crafts by artists from different countries.
