Erba, Municipality in Province of Como, Italy
Erba is a municipality in Como province situated at the base of the Lombard Prealps and composed of several merged communities. The town sits at about 320 meters elevation and features scattered residential areas throughout the gently rolling terrain.
The region was inhabited before Roman times and later became important on the ancient road connecting Milan to Bellagio. The modern town of Erba took its current form when multiple historical communities merged in the 1930s.
The Sant'Eufemia parish church anchors the town center with its Romanesque architecture and 11th-century bell tower, which still defines the local skyline. Ruins of the Torre di Incino castle remind visitors of the medieval period and are visible from different vantage points around town.
The town is well connected by regional transportation and served by the Milan-Asso railway line, making it easy to reach larger cities in Lombardy. Its location works well for exploring nearby destinations like the lakes and mountain areas.
Today's Erba was not always a single administrative unit but came from merging different villages, creating a sprawling community with several centers. This decentralized structure remains visible and shapes how the whole area looks and functions.
