Troina, Mountain commune in Province of Enna, Italy
Located at an elevation of 1,121 meters above sea level, Troina extends across 168 square kilometers of Sicily's mountainous terrain within Nebrodi Park.
The town served as Sicily's first capital under Norman rule when Roger I captured its castle in 1061 and established it as a base for his island conquests.
The Norman cathedral of Maria Santissima Assunta functions as the primary religious center and contains architectural elements from different historical periods.
The municipality initiated a one-euro house program in 2021 to increase its population of 9,209 residents and attract new inhabitants to the area.
The Torre Capitania, which remains from the original castle structure, now operates as a cultural center hosting exhibitions about regional heritage.
