Gardone Riviera, Lakeside commune in Province of Brescia, Italy
Gardone Riviera is a commune along the western shore of Lake Garda, situated at about 71 meters above sea level. Mountains rise behind it, and Mediterranean plants grow throughout the area.
The commune developed as a residential destination in the early 20th century. Poet Gabriele D'Annunzio established a private residence here, which later became a national monument after he donated it to the Italian State.
The Giardino Botanico Fondazione Andre Heller presents plants and art pieces throughout its grounds, creating spaces where nature and creativity meet. Visitors walking through notice how sculptures and installations blend with the landscape, shaping the experience.
Boat services regularly connect the commune to other Lake Garda towns, and buses link it to major cities in the Lombardy region. Wear good walking shoes since some paths climb steeply through the terrain.
The Vittoriale degli Italiani contains an outdoor theater carved into the hillside. In 2000, the British rock band King Crimson recorded portions of their album here.
