Gargnano

Gargnano is a municipality stretching along the western shore of Lake Garda, with twelve small villages scattered from the waterfront to the surrounding hills. The settlements are woven throughout this lakeside region.

The area was first recorded in 937 as Garniano and had been home to Etruscans, Celts, Cenomani, and Romans in earlier times. These layers of ancient settlement left their mark on the region.

The settlement hosts the Centomiglia regatta each September, drawing sailing competitors from across Europe to its waters. This event shapes the community's identity and reflects the deep connection between the local people and water sports.

The area offers sailing, mountain biking, hiking, and water sports along Lake Garda thanks to its lakeside and hilly setting. You can easily switch between water activities and mountain trails depending on what you feel like doing.

Villa Feltrinelli, now a luxury hotel, once served as an administrative center during the Italian Social Republic and housed significant historical events. The building stands as a reminder of this turbulent chapter in Italian history.
