Villa Bettoni, Gargnano

Villa Bettoni is a neoclassical residence with four stories rising in Bogliaco on Lake Garda, presenting grand facades on both the garden and water sides. The structure stands on a rusticated stone base while powerful pilasters emphasize vertical lines and architectural strength.

The Bettoni family commissioned this villa's construction in the 18th century after receiving the title of Count from the Holy Roman Emperors in 1752. This event marked their social rise and shaped their decision to build such an ambitious residence.

The interior walls display frescoes by Bernardino and Fabrizio Galliari showing mythological figures in allegorical scenes. These artistic works shape the character of the rooms and tell stories of ancient gods and human virtues.

The garden features a nymphaeum-like structure adorned with sculptures representing human virtues such as charity, glory, power, honor, faith, and prudence. This ensemble of figures creates a contemplative space that bridges classical and Renaissance philosophy with the natural surroundings.
