Ascea

Ascea is a municipality in the Province of Salerno comprising several districts, including the beachside Marina di Ascea and the main town center. The area contains both coastal zones and inland sections with residential neighborhoods and local services.

The area was home to the ancient Greek colony of Velia, which later became a significant Roman settlement. These roots shape the historical identity of the place today.

The town honors Saint Nicholas of Bari in December and the Madonna di Portosalvo in August through local celebrations rooted in Mediterranean faith. These festivals shape the rhythm of community life and connect residents to their religious heritage.
