Brescello

Brescello is a commune situated along the southern bank of the Po River in Emilia-Romagna. The territory spans about 24 square kilometers and borders the provinces of Parma and Mantua.

The location was originally the Roman settlement of Brixillum, which held strategic importance until the 7th century. Byzantine forces destroyed it to prevent the expansion of Lombard king Agilulf.

The Archaeological Museum Albino Umiltà displays Roman artifacts within a former Benedictine monastery that now serves as a cultural center. The town became known as a filming location for movie productions, giving it a particular place in regional cultural life.
