Predappio

Predappio is a municipality in the Province of Forlì-Cesena in Emilia-Romagna, spreading over gentle Apennine hills and combining medieval structures with newer residential neighborhoods. The settlement sits among forested valleys and vineyards, crossed by narrow streets that wind around a central square and several historic buildings.

In the early twentieth century, the town center relocated downhill following a major landslide, prompting the construction of new residential quarters and public buildings. The rebuilding changed the layout entirely and shaped the urban development for the decades that followed.

Locals gather in the main square where cafés serve regional pastries on weekends, while side streets host small workshops that still produce traditional crafts. The town name itself comes from the Latin word for foot, referencing its hillside position where hikers traverse the surrounding vineyards and woodlands.

Those wishing to explore the surroundings will find several marked walking trails through the hills, passing vineyards and woods. In summer, shaded lanes in the town center provide relief from heat, while spring and autumn bring comfortable temperatures for longer walks.

At the documentary center, visitors can view records and photographs documenting everyday administration and life in earlier decades. The exhibits include handwritten contracts and official plans that offer insights into past municipal bureaucracy.
