Mussolini Family Crypt, Family crypt in Predappio, Italy.
The family burial chamber sits in the main hall of San Cassiano cemetery and houses five stone sarcophagi decorated with fasces symbols. A Roman column stands near the entrance and a copy of the Pietà appears inside.
Architect Florestano Di Fausto designed the chamber between 1928 and 1933 as a family burial site. The remains were moved here in 1957 after being held elsewhere for over a decade.
Visitors sometimes leave flowers near the sarcophagi, reflecting how the site continues to draw people for varied reasons. Personal effects from the final days remain on display inside the chamber.
The cemetery opens at 8 AM and closes between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM depending on the season. The chamber lies indoors within the main building, so weather does not affect entry.
The column at the entrance came from an ancient Roman forum and arrived here in 1975. Inside, a stone urn holds preserved tissue from a 1945 autopsy.
