Bracciano, Medieval castle town near Lake Bracciano, Italy
Bracciano rises 280 meters above sea level on a hill overlooking Lake Bracciano, with narrow streets leading to the central Piazza IV Novembre.
The settlement evolved from a tenth-century defensive tower against Saracen attacks into a fortified town, later controlled by the Orsini family from 1234.
The Castello Orsini-Odescalchi contains Renaissance frescoes by Taddeo Zuccaro, representing the artistic heritage of the noble families who resided there.
Located 30 kilometers northwest of Rome, Bracciano connects to the capital via regular train service and provides access to water activities on the lake.
The Italian Air Force Museum in Bracciano displays numerous historical aircraft, including the Supermarine Spitfire and F-104 Starfighter military planes.
