Manincor, Cultural heritage monument in St. Josef am See, Italy
Manincor is a winery situated on roughly 50 hectares of land near Lake Kaltern in South Tyrol. The estate operates as one of the largest wine producers in the region and works exclusively with grapes grown on its own property.
A nobleman named Hieronymus Manincor received this property around 1608 as a reward from the Emperor for his service to Austria and established the winery. The estate has been continuously operated and developed as a wine production facility ever since.
The name 'Man-in-cor' means 'hand on heart' and its coat of arms symbol is visible above the entrance on the south facade of the main building. This emblem has shaped the visual identity of the property through centuries and roots the place name in its original meaning.
The winery offers wine tastings and guided tours that require advance booking. Visitors should arrange their visit in advance to ensure access to the tasting rooms and production areas.
The property features wine cellars built underground into the landscape that blend modern production equipment with the historical structures visible above. This design approach allows the site to maintain its historical character while operating with contemporary winemaking methods.
