The garden spans 12 hectares within the University of Naples Federico II, containing 25,000 plant specimens arranged in specialized sections and greenhouses.

Joseph Bonaparte established this garden in 1807, marking the beginning of a scientific institution that continues its research and educational mission.

The Castle within the garden houses the Museum of Paleobotany and Ethnobotany, displaying collections that document plant relationships with human societies.

Located at Via Foria 223, the garden opens Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with extended hours until 4:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Ancient ceramic signs guide visitors through the grounds, while modern QR codes provide detailed information about specific plant specimens throughout the collections.
