The Santa Sofia church features two entrance doors on its facade and contains a 1754 maiolica pavement with detailed tile patterns throughout its floor.
Constantine established the original structure in 308, while the current building dates from 1487 when it served a congregation dedicated to burying the poor.
The church previously contained important paintings by Fabrizio Santafede and Marco Pino, representing significant Neapolitan artistic achievements of their time period.
The structure stands deconsecrated following the 1980 earthquake, which led to the removal of its valuable artworks for preservation purposes.
The building combines religious architecture with social service functions, as its congregation focused on providing burial services for impoverished Naples residents.
