Santa Maria Assunta, Baroque church in Cannaregio, Venice, Italy

The Santa Maria Assunta church displays a facade with eight columns supporting statues representing apostles and features three chapels along the main nave.

The initial construction of Santa Maria Assunta was financed in 1148, and the current structure was built between 1715 and 1729 with funding from the Manin family.

The church interior contains frescoes by Ludovico Dorigny depicting angel musicians, along with twenty paintings by Palma the Younger in the sacristy.

Visitors can access the church from Monday through Saturday between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with an admission fee required for entry.

The interior decoration uses green and white marble patterns to create optical effects that mirror the appearance of damask fabrics and altar carpets.
