Galleria nazionale di Parma

The Galleria Nazionale spans multiple floors in the Palazzo della Pilotta, exhibiting paintings from Italian masters including Correggio, Leonardo da Vinci, and Tintoretto.

Duke Philip of Bourbon established the museum in 1760 after the transfer of the Farnese collection to Naples, initiating a new era of art collection.

The museum houses masterpieces from Renaissance and Baroque periods, with special emphasis on religious art and portraits from the Emilia-Romagna school.

The gallery opens Tuesday through Sunday from 10:30 to 19:00, with the last entry at 18:00, and recorded 135,398 visitors in 2018.

The museum preserves Leonardo da Vinci's 'Head of a Woman,' known as 'La Scapigliata,' displaying his experimental painting technique on wood panel.
