Bodoni Museum

The Bodoni Museum is located in Palazzo della Pilotta and shows the workshop of the famous printer Giambattista Bodoni with original type, matrices, punches, and printed works. The rooms document the craftsmanship of book production in the 18th century.

The space honors a printer whose family had been active in Parma since the Renaissance and whose work shaped European printing. After destruction in World War II, the workshop was restored and made accessible to the public.

The name Bodoni refers to a typeface still used in printing and design today. The collection shows how this craftsman changed the art of printing and what impact his work had on European book culture.
