The Civico museo del Castello di San Giusto is a three-level castle on San Giusto hill that houses exhibition spaces, a Gothic chapel, and multiple collections. Inside you will find weapons from medieval and modern times, Roman stone monuments, and historical furniture.
The castle was built between 1468 and 1636 by Austrian emperors as a triangular fortress to secure military control over Trieste. Over the centuries it served as a garrison and was later converted into a museum.
The Lapidario Tergestino displays around 130 stone monuments from Roman Tergeste, including remains from ancient theaters and sacred buildings. This collection shows the city's deep connection to antiquity.
