Mount Campo dei Fiori, Alpine subgroup in Province of Varese, Italy.
Mount Campo dei Fiori is an alpine subgroup in the Province of Varese with multiple peaks including Monte Morto, Prà Camarée, and Punta di Orino that together form a varied mountain landscape. The area is accessed through marked trails connecting different sections and providing pathways across varying elevations.
The region was established as a Regional Park in 1984, protecting this important alpine landscape. The presence of Forte di Orino indicates the area's earlier military use during different historical periods.
The name Campo dei Fiori means "field of flowers" and reflects the rich plant life that covers the slopes. Visitors encounter a landscape shaped by meadows and forests that display different colors and vegetation throughout the seasons.
The terrain is best explored on foot, with marked trails offering different difficulty levels suited to various fitness levels. Visitors should bring appropriate hiking equipment and weather-appropriate clothing, as conditions can change quickly at higher elevations.
Two historic funicular systems once served the mountain: the cable car from Vellone valley to Santa Maria del Monte remains active today. The second system to the Grand Hotel ceased operation in 1953 when the hotel closed, and its stations remain visible on the slopes.
