Italia in miniatura, Miniature park in Viserbella, Rimini, Italy
Italia in Miniatura is a miniature park in Viserbella that displays hundreds of scale models of Italian landmarks and monuments across landscaped grounds. The site features different themed areas representing various regions of Italy, with gardens and carefully arranged displays throughout the property.
The park opened in 1970 and was created using hundreds of photographs of Italian monuments to ensure the models were accurate reproductions. The project grew from a desire to bring Italy's architectural diversity together in a single location.
The park recreates Venice at 1:5 scale with dozens of buildings and a miniature canal that captures the character of the original city. Visitors walk through scenes that show how this famous place looks and feels in miniature form.
The park is open year-round, with extended hours during warmer months and shorter hours in quieter seasons. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as the grounds are large and require considerable walking to explore all the displays.
Small trains travel through the park while powering many of the miniature displays and interactive elements through an extensive network of electric cables. This system allows visitors to see models come to life, with movement happening across the entire property.
