Pizzo di Gino

Pizzo di Gino is a mountain peak in the Comasche Prealps reaching 2,245 meters elevation. The striking rocky pyramid rises above the surrounding terrain and forms a distinctive landmark when viewed from the Valtellina valley.

The peak has served as a natural reference point for Alpine communities across centuries, helping guide people through the mountain valleys. Traditional climbing routes developed along its slopes have remained in use as paths connecting local settlements to higher elevations.

Local mountaineering groups maintain several marked trails to the summit, preserving traditional Alpine climbing routes for current and future generations.

The main trailhead starts from San Nazzaro Val Cavargna, with marked paths ascending the mountain in stages. A shelter at Rifugio Croce di Campo situated at 1,739 meters offers a good stopping point for hikers to rest during the climb.

From the summit, visitors can see numerous major Alpine peaks stretching across the horizon, with Monte Rosa standing prominent to the north. The southern view opens toward Lake Como, creating a panorama that links three distinct geographical zones.
