Villa Mondragone, Renaissance villa in Monte Porzio Catone, Italy

Villa Mondragone occupies 18 hectares of parkland on a hillside between Frascati and Monte Porzio Catone, offering views toward Rome from 416 meters elevation.

Cardinal Marco Sittico Altemps commissioned architect Martino Longhi the Elder to build the villa in 1573 on the remains of an ancient Roman residence of the Quintili family.

The villa's Sala degli Svizzeri hosted the proclamation of the Gregorian calendar reform by Pope Gregory XIII through the Inter Gravissimas bull in 1582.

The University of Rome Tor Vergata maintains the villa as a conference center and event venue, accessible via Via Frascati 51 in Monte Porzio Catone.

The name Mondragone derives from the winged dragon symbol of the Boncompagni family, represented in Pope Gregory XIII's heraldic crest.
