Meraner Hütte

The Meraner Hütte sits at 1937 meters in the Sarntal Alps and provides accommodation for around 38 guests in dormitory-style rooms. The building displays traditional alpine construction with solid materials and straightforward furnishings designed for mountain travelers.

The hut was founded by AVS Sektion Meran to support hikers exploring South Tyrol's mountains. It became part of a broader effort by alpine clubs to develop mountain access across the region.

The hut serves as a gathering place where hikers from different backgrounds meet and share their alpine experiences. It reflects the tradition of mountain hospitality that has defined alpine communities for generations.

The hut is accessible via several hiking routes, with the path from Falzeben being popular and covering about 11.8 kilometers. Sturdy footwear and plenty of water are essential, as the climb can be steep and exposed to weather.

On clear days, visitors can see both the Dolomites and the valleys toward Merano from the hut, creating a view that spans two distinct landscapes. This vantage point tends to be less crowded than other popular mountain paths in the area.
