Piz Ciavazes is a limestone summit in the Sella Group rising to 2828 meters, characterized by steep vertical walls on its south-facing side. The rock faces contain multiple climbing routes of varying difficulty levels.
The peak was first developed by climbers in the early 1900s as a training ground for advancing climbing techniques. Multiple established routes reflect this pioneering work in rock climbing history.
The mountain stands as a symbol of Alpine climbing tradition, where generations of mountaineers have tested their skills on its technical routes.
Access to the climbing area is from the Passo Sella parking lot, where several routes begin. Routes range from moderate grades to challenging multi-pitch climbs, so climbers need experience and proper gear.
The Micheluzzi route features a challenging sequence of five consecutive pitches that reach Cengia dei Camosci. This classic route merges traditional climbing movement with contemporary safety fixtures.
