Kassianspitze

Kassianspitze stands in the Sarentino Alps at 2,581 meters, featuring steep paths that move from meadows through forests to rocky terrain higher up. The mountain displays distinct landscape changes across its elevations, from green slopes below to bare rock near the peak.

The mountain served as a key transit point when valleys were difficult to cross, with ancient routes still visible across high pastures and plateaus. These paths once connected separated communities and were vital for trade and movement through the mountain region.

The Croce di Lazfons stands near the mountain as one of South Tyrol's highest pilgrimage sites, and the Black Godfather statue draws visitors seeking spiritual connection. People have made journeys to this sacred spot for generations.

A complete mountain tour covers about 19.5 kilometers with roughly 1,190 meters of elevation gain, starting from the Reinswald cable car station through marked trails numbered 7, 8B, and 9. Proper footwear and plenty of water are essential, as the paths grow steep and conditions can be windy at higher elevations.

The summit features a special photography installation that frames views of the Ötztal, Zillertal, and Stubai Alps from a dedicated vantage point. This helps visitors properly identify and photograph the major mountain ranges and valleys visible in the distance.
