Villa Favard, 19th-century villa in Florence, Italy
Villa Favard is a 19th-century residence in Florence positioned along the Arno River with views toward Bellosguardo hill. The building displays neoclassical architecture with frescoed interiors and contains classrooms, offices, and a library spread across multiple levels.
The villa was commissioned by Baroness Fiorella Favard de L'Anglade in 1857 and constructed by architect Giuseppe Poggi between 1858 and 1860 on Florence's riverbank. After completion, the property underwent various uses before eventually becoming home to an international fashion school.
The villa has housed the POLIMODA international fashion school since 2012, with classrooms, workshops, and an amphitheater supporting design education. Today it functions as a place where students from around the world study fashion and develop their creative skills.
The building is accessed via various stairs and levels, with most student services and the library located in the basement area. Visitors should note this is an active teaching space where opening hours may vary depending on academic activities.
The villa features two iron and glass greenhouses that originally protected lemon trees and tropical plants within its English-style gardens. These structures remain as a rare example of its original design intent.
