Orti Oricellari, Renaissance garden in Florence, Italy

The green space features geometrical paths, Mediterranean plants, ancient trees, classical statues, and decorative fountains arranged in symmetrical patterns throughout the grounds.

The garden originated in the late 15th century when Bernardo Rucellai and his wife Nannina de' Medici purchased the land to create a palace with gardens.

The garden hosted meetings of the Platonic Academy, where intellectuals including Niccolo Machiavelli gathered to discuss philosophy, politics, and literature.

The garden stands near Santa Maria Novella station, with access through via Oricellari street, requiring advance reservations for guided tours of the grounds.

The name Oricellari derives from a purple dye extracted from lichens, which brought wealth to the Rucellai family through their textile business.
