Montalto Cathedral

Montalto Cathedral is a co-cathedral in Montalto delle Marche with a Neoclassical front entrance and an octagonal bell tower rising above. Inside, twelve side chapels line the walls, each decorated with frescoes and religious artworks that fill the interior space.

A pope established the diocese here in 1586 and ordered construction of this cathedral to serve as its main church. The crypt beneath the building became an important part of the new religious institution that was being created at that time.

The church holds artworks that show what mattered to the people who worshipped here over centuries. You can see how the community expressed its faith through the decorative works placed throughout the building's interior spaces.

The building is located on Piazza Sisto V in the town center, making it easy to reach. Adjacent to the cathedral, a bishop's residence houses a diocesan museum where you can see religious objects and artifacts.

The entrance area features a small plaza with two curved fountain pools and a memorial column dedicated to soldiers who died. This combination of water features and remembrance shows how the religious site serves broader community purposes beyond worship.
