The Archaeological Museum of Populonia occupies three floors of Palazzo Nuovo in the historic center of Piombino, displaying over 2,000 artifacts from the region.
The museum opened in 2001 within a palace constructed in the early 19th century for Felice and Elisa Baciocchi, members of Napoleon Bonaparte's family.
The collection includes the Baratti silver amphora from late Roman times and the Mosaic dei Pesci, representing significant findings from Etruscan and Roman periods.
The facility maintains wheelchair accessibility throughout its 1,800 square meters of exhibition space and provides designated areas for nursing mothers with changing tables.
Three multisensory educational stations enable visitors to interact with scale replicas of artifacts through touch, sound, and video presentations.
