San Pietro in Carnia

San Pietro in Carnia is a Gothic church in Zuglio set on a hillside near the Bût stream with a simple interior layout. It contains a single nave with three altars and features a Romanesque mullioned window that remains part of its design.

The church was built in 1312 under the commission of the Patriarch of Aquileia Ottobuono di Razzi and replaced an earlier place of worship. The former structure had been destroyed in the 8th century by outside forces.

The church holds Renaissance woodcarvings and a baroque altarpiece dedicated to Saint Anthony the Abbot that reflect the area's artistic heritage. These pieces show how local faith and craftsmanship evolved together over time.
